Filtros Anoia History
The first news of the foundation of Filtros Anoia, S.A. go back to the year 1748, when the Marquis de Llió, Joseph Francesc de Móra i Catà, created a society for the construction of a paper mill in Sant Pere Riudebitlles (Barcelona), known like the "Molí del Marquès" or the "Molí de la Vila".
This mill manufactured excellent quality writing paper that was used in notarial documents, archives, libraries, etc. from Barcelona and Madrid.
It will be in the year 1897, in the middle of the crisis that the writing paper sector suffered to the loss of the American colonies, when paperwork engineer Josep Albet Quintana decides to change the market and starts manufacturing filter paper for use in laboratories, for the filtration of industrial liquids and for coffee machines. Early from the 20th century the ALBET and EL SOL brands are created, the quality is perfected and the range of filters increases.
The first technical catalogs are published in the 40s and 50s.
From this moment, the different production points mechanize and the production increases significantly until 1968, when a new
factory is build, this would be one of the biggest filter paper production machines for that time.
In the decade of the 80s the company suffers a strong crisis that is overcome and begins to export part of the production to countries like France, Germany and Italy.
In 1997 Filters Anoia is certified in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Filtros Anoia has also been certified with the ISO 5001 standard.
With the entry into the 21st century, export activity intensifies, and the range of Laboratory products increases significantly, enhanced by the new FILTER-LAB brand and for a modern vision of the company.
It is in December 2017 when a historical research study discovers the true date of the foundation of Filtros Anoia, S.A. in 1748.
